A homeless woman who attacked a TSA officer was taken down by a visiting California police officer.
The attack happened on Saturday at the Honolulu International Airport just before 1 p.m.
The attack was caught on airport surveillance video.
The Department of Public Safety says the an airport security officer asked 43-year-old Wailana Haiola to put out her cigarette.
Haiola, who is homeless, then started punching a female TSA officer who was standing nearby.
That’s when the Pinole, Calif. police officer Justin Rogers took Haiola down and was able to detain her with a pair of handcuffs from an airport security officer.
Haiola was arrested for assault in the third degree and taken to the hospital.
She was later released and has not yet been charged.
Earlier this year, Haiola was found guilty on a harassment and assault charge.
TSA issued a statement saying, “Police officer Justin Rogers’ actions, coupled with the quick response by airport security, ensured that the integrity of the airport’s sterile area was maintained, minimizing disruptions to the traveling public.”
Officer Rogers was visiting the islands and on his way back to California from a family vacation.
