Power restored in Kaimuki after car crashes into pole

Hawaiian Electric Company crews have restored power to all customers in Kaimuki after a vehicle crashed into a utility pole.

The incident happened at about 6:15 a.m. Saturday on Waialae Avenue near 2nd Avenue.

Officials say 1,200 people were initially without power.

HECO crews managed to restore power to most customers by the mid-morning.

Honolulu Police directed traffic on Waialae Avenue while crews worked to replace the damaged pole.

Repairs were completed and power was restored to all customers at about 2 p.m.
