Suspect arrested in robbery and assault of taxi driver in Mountain View

Suspect arrested in Big Island taxi cab assault and robbery.

Big Island police have arrested and charged 31-year old Bernard K. Antoque who was wanted for robbing a tax driver.

Police say Antoque was picked up in the Banyan Drive area on Friday, April 6th shortly after 10:00 a.m. and directed the driver to the Mountain View area in Puna.

When he told the driver he did not have money to pay for the ride, he asked to be taken to another location. When the driver refused, Antoque assaulted and robbed the driver.

He was arrested Thursday evening and on Friday charged with 1st degree terroristic threatening, 3rd degree theft, and 4th degree theft.

His bail was set at $37,000 with an initial court appearance scheduled for Monday, April 15.
