Road work seems to be around every corner on Oahu and it’s not ending anytime soon.
On Monday, Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell unveiled more details about his five-year road plan.
He says 14 repaving projects have already been put out to bid this year.
So far, 77 lane-miles of roads have been fixed.
“We’ve heard from the people of this community saying that we don’t want the temporary fix. They’re demanding, screaming, crying out loud for a game-changing road repaving effort and we’re doing exactly that,” Mayor Caldwell said.
The mayor hopes to repair 1,500 miles of Oahu’s poorest roads over the next five years.
Quarterly reports will be published on the City’s website to show progress of the repairs.
