Honolulu Police responded to an early morning stabbing in Kalihi. One person is dead and two men were booked for murder.
The suspects are identified as 21-year-old Asuelu Moananu and 21-year-old Vainuuao Tusoga.
The victim’s body was found on the side of Halona Street in Kalihi at about 3 a.m. Friday. Police say he died after being stabbed with glass multiple times.
KHON2 visited the Waiakamilo address of Moananu and Tusoga, and found their roommate.
“I know them as “Ace” and “Water.” And yesterday they started drinking when I came in from work,” suspects’ roommate Ocean Philips said.
Ocean says they drank until about 1 a.m. Friday and then left their apartment to meet a “friend.”
Phillips says both his roommates have drinking problems, and that “Ace” is no stranger to danger.
“A day ago, “Ace” he got mobbed by two guys right by Kam IV, I think. He came home and he had a bruise on his head. He came home and said he almost got shot by two guys. And he managed to fight them back and get away from it,” Phillips said.
At the Halona Street murder scene Honolulu Police provided an update.
“Well, at 2:30 this morning officers, were called on a report that numerous males were chasing another male. Upon arrival, they found the victim with apparent puncture wounds,” HPD Capt. Lisa Mann said.
Not long after police arrested Moananu and Tusoga.
A witness to the early morning argument and fight said he heard the victim apologizing to the two suspects.
That witness told KHON2 he thought the men were drunk and that the victim looked “woozy.”
The victim’s identity has not been released.
