HPD’s chief says the US Senate’s failure to pass better gun control laws is a disgrace.
It’s part of a joint statement from Police Chief Louis Kealoha and other chiefs of police from across the US.
They’re criticizing last week’s senate vote which blocked a proposal to expand background checks for gun sales.
In the letter, the Chiefs of Police say the US Senate showed an unprecedented lack of courage defying the will of the American people.
But they say they will continue their struggle for laws that protect the public from gun violence.
