Woman tries to escape from custody at District Court

Elloise Ysaol

State Sheriffs say they quickly caught up with a woman who tried to escape from Honolulu District Court Thursday afternoon.

The incident happened just before 2:30 p.m.

Public Safety officials say deputies were transporting Elloise Ysaol and five other women between a holding room and courtroom when Ysaol made a run for it.

Ysaol was shackled, so she didn’t get far.

Deputies secured the building and caught her in the stairwell on the 11th floor.

Ysaol was scheduled to appear in court on charges of breaking into a car.

Officials say she will now be charged with attempted escape.
