Hilo student named state winner in ‘Doodle 4 Google’ competition

A fourth grader from the Big Island is a state winner in the sixth annual Doodle 4 Google competition.

Fifty winners, one from each state, were announced on Wednesday.

Alan Perreira, a fourth grader from Haaheo Elementary School, was selected as Hawaii’s winner.

He now has a chance to become one of five national finalists.

You can help by voting on Google’s website.

Voting ends on Friday, May 10.

The winning design will be displayed on Google’s homepage on May 23.

The winner will also receive a $30,000 college scholarship.
