The executive director of the Epilepsy Foundation of Hawaii had a huge surprise waiting for her Sunday morning.
“Oh my god! Yay! I wouldn’t have dreamt that,” said Epilepsy Foundation of Hawaii executive director Nancy Brown
HMSA employees surprised her with a check for $10,000!
Gavin Shimabukuro nominated the Epilepsy Foundation because he says they’ve done so much to help his family.
His son Jax has epilepsy.
“It’s a very small foundation, and it doesn’t get a lot of support like some of the bigger ones, so I thought this would be a great opportunity so I nominated the foundation,” said HMSA employee Gavin Shimabukuro.
“Very big surprise. I thought I was just meeting one of the board members down here to get some goodies she brought back from washington dc, and instead the entire board was here with HMSA to present us with a $10,000 check,” said Brown.
In all HMSA will be donating $100,000 to 10 community organizations.
It’s all part of the company’s 75th anniversary celebration.
Hawaii Meals on Wheels also got a check for $10,000 on Sunday.
