An animal cruelty case that the Humane Society called one of the worst it’s ever seen is headed to trial.

Andrea Fiegle pleaded not guilty Thursday morning to a felony charge of animal cruelty.

According to court documents, Fiegle cut her dog’s throat because the dog would not listen.

The 36 year old spoke to KHON2 news after Thursday’s hearing, saying she’s not a violent person.

“Because I am not somebody that harms people I’ve never done it in the past,” Fiegle said. “I haven’t seen my daughter much or been able to talk to her much. So, the worst thing right now is that I am not seeing my daughter.”

Fiegle says her daughter was taken into protective custody.

The judge scheduled her trial for July 8.

Fiegle remains free on bail.
