Board of Water Supply crews have completed repairs to a broken water main on McCully Street near Kapiolani Boulevard.
The 16-inch break was reported just before 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Water traveled onto nearby streets, making it nearly impossible for pedestrians and motorists to get through.
BWS crews will be backfilling the trench and will work with a paving contractor to conduct road repairs.
At this time, the right westbound lane on Kapiolani Boulevard between Pumehana and Wiliwili Streets, as well as all lanes on McCully Street between Lime Street and Kapiolani Boulevard are closed.
Road repairs are expected to continue into the evening.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area.
Water service was restored to customers at about noon Friday.
