This is what Waikane stream in Waiahole looked like Sunday.

“Every time it rains it comes like this the river can’t take the water, a river is knee-high, but now its like seven feet high” said Elmer Fagarang, Waiahole farmer.

A sight many residents who live near the stream say they’ve seen before.

“When we came back the water from down there was already backed up already,” said Odeleen Davis, Waiahole resident.

But the river rising wasn’t the only concern.

“Right now we’re kind of worried about getting bigger cause our cow the water just going there,” said Fagarang.

The water on the road made for some uneasy driving.

“When we were coming we were kind of like staying in the middle because of the mud. We got to go to the store quick and then come back so we made it but when we came back it was already bubbling out on the highway already,” said Davis.

Heavy rains continued to drench Windward Oahu til late in the afternoon before the warning was cancelled.

Fortunately, the Waikane bridge did not have to be closed.

There were no evacuations or injuries.
