A small Kaimuki private school says they are floored by a major donation.
Kaimuki Christian School received a $1.5 million check on Wednesday from the Clarence T.C. Ching Foundation.
The school is growing and recently launched its first ninth grade class.
“The confidence that the Clarence T.C. Ching Foundation had in us, this small school, to be the initial givers for this campaign, that just boosted our spirits,” Kaimuki Christian School Principal Mark Gallagher said.
The school plans to add a new wing with classrooms and administration space.
The entire project will cost more than $7 million.
Construction is scheduled to begin next year.
