Gov. Neil Abercrombie issued a proclamation designating May 19 to 25, National Emergency Medical Services Week.
It’s a week to show appreciation to the lifesaving work paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians perform every day.
Honolulu Mobile Intensive Care Technician Derrick Yonezawa was honored at the state capitol on Friday. He began his career with the City in 1981.
Yonezawa was awarded with the EMS Outstanding Employee plaque for his years of service to the community.
