Hundreds of Hawaiian Airlines passengers got a late start on their Australian vacation.
Their flight to Sydney turned around and flew back to Honolulu Monday afternoon.
A light in the cockpit indicating a problem with the system came on about an hour into the flight.
The plane returned to Honolulu at about 2:30 p.m., but passengers did not leave until about 11 p.m. The airline says Sydney does not allow flights after a certain hour, so passengers were forced to wait.
Hawaiian Airlines apologized to the 246 passengers and treated them to dinner in Waikiki.
