On Wednesday morning, 247 Sports released rankings for the top prep football prospects for the class of 2015 in the United States with the unveiling of the number one prospect in America, Punahou’s Canton Kaumatule. This marks as the first time a Hawaii football player has ever been rated the top overall recruit in America by a major recruiting website, with fellow Buff ‘n Blue product Manti Te’o being the top rated defensive recruit in the class of 2009.
The aptly named Canton, a 6’7″ 275 pound defensive end, is also considered an elite offensive tackle prospect by the scouting service, which is a the partner of the U.S. Army All-American game, as well as a CBS sports.
Kaumatule lists Stanford, where his brother Luke is a sophomore tight end, as his top school. Washington is his second favorite followed by the University of Hawaii.
