Five more people have joined in a lawsuit saying they were sexually abused by priests in the local Catholic church.
The suit now includes 11 alleged victims claiming sex abuse as far back as the 1940s.
One of the most recent plaintiffs is a Hawaii Island man who says he was abused by three priests nearly 50 years ago.
The victim, who does not want to be identified, says he has never recovered from the trauma.
“My main reason for not wanting any children was I was never confident of my ability to protect them,” he says.
The suit calls for the church to setup programs to prevent sexual abuse.
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Honolulu told KHON2 it has no comment on the case.
