The city is restoring more bus cuts in the coming days which is trimming wait times by as much as 30 minutes.

Service improvements start this Sunday, May 26 for weekend routes, and Tuesday, May 28 for weekday routes.

There will be five routes restored in this latest phase, including country express Route C that goes from Makaha to Kapolei to Ala Moana Center.

It will now run every 30 minutes instead of 45.

Another round of service improvements will happen in August.

  • CountryExpress Route C (Makaha to Kapolei to Ala Moana Center)
Restoring weekday mid-day service from every 45 minutes to every 30 minutes.
  • Route 55 (Ala Moana Center via Kaneohe to Haleiwa)
Improving mid-day service frequencies from every 60 minutes to every 45 minutes.
  • Route 1L (Kalihi to Hawaii Kai)
Extending Route 1L to provide limited-stop service along the busiest section of School Street corridor previously served by Route B.  The route extension will provide Kalihi residents with faster service through Downtown to the McCully-Moiliili and Kaimuki neighborhoods.
  • Route 2L (Kalihi to Waikiki)
Adding additional weekday peak hour trips.
  • Route 5 (Manoa to Ala Moana Center)
Improving morning peak hour frequencies from every 60 minutes to every 30 minutes.

Further service improvements in August will include:

  • Route 13 (Liliha via Waikiki to UH-Mānoa)
Restoring service frequency from every 20 minutes to every 15 minutes.

Peak hour and weekend service on Route 14 (St. Louis-Waialae Ave. to Maunalani Heights) and weekend service on CountryExpress Route C (Makaha-Kapolei-Ala Moana Center) were restored in March

Further changes to Route 14 will be implemented to restore additional service around Diamond Head during weekend and weekday off-peak periods beginning July 1, 2013.

The Mayor’s 2013 Bus Restoration Plan, which was based on community input, prioritized near-term restorations to severely affected communities within existing financial constraints.
