Tweets, posts and likes — it seems like everyone has their hands in the world of social media, even the Honolulu Police Department.

According to MPHProgramsList.com, an online research firm, HPD came in 13th in the nation when it comes to social media friendly police departments.

“It shows a lot for Honolulu,” HPD spokesperson Teresa Bell said. “We’re going to continue to make Honolulu the safest place to live, work and play and how we’re doing that is putting information out there to show what we’re doing, what the officers are doing daily, how we’re doing it and it shows – we have the support from the public.”

Honolulu Police say since putting more effort into their Facebook, Twitter and website, they’ve seen more help from the public when it comes to solving crimes and community problems.
