Memorial Day: What’s open and what’s closed

Here’s what’s open and closed on Memorial Day:

  • Federal, state, and county government offices will be closed
  • Emergency ambulance, fire, lifeguard, and police services will be available
  • Regular refuse material collections will be made
  • Landfills/transfer stations will be open
  • On Oahu, TheBus will operate on a Sunday schedule
  • The People’s Open Market will not be held
  • The Blaisdell box office will be closed
  • All satellite city halls and driver licensing offices will be closed
  • Most banks are closed
  • Post offices are closed so there won’t be any mail delivery or pickup.
  • On-street parking will be free, except for the meters on Kalakaua Avenue along Kapiolani Park
  • Municipal golf courses, botanical gardens and the Honolulu Zoo will be open
