Twelve hikers were rescued from Maui’s Bamboo Forest on Tuesday after being stranded due to flash flooding.

The Maui Fire Department received the call at about 3:15 p.m. when three females got stuck off the trail.

Rescue personnel were then advised of other hikers who were also stranded due to the rising water.

A rescue helicopter located the hikers at three separate locations in the Bamboo Forest area.

A total of eight females, ranging from ages 18 to 57, and four males, ranging from ages 21 to 33, were rescued.

Officials say two of the hikers were from California, two were from Washington, and eight were local residents.

No injuries were reported.
