Panda Express is paying $150,000 to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by three workers on Kauai.
The three women claim they were sexually abused by a male supervisor at the restaurant’s Kapaa location more than four years ago.
When they tried to complain, the women claim they were ignored. In one case, a worker claimed her hours were cut because she spoke out.
“The bigger issue for us is that the women were trying to go to the levels of supervisors, to the store manager, and even higher to the Honolulu manager, but weren’t really getting the response they needed,” U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission attorney Amrita Mallik said.
The $150,000 will be split between the victims.
As part of the settlement, the Chinese fast-food restaurant is also revising its employee training when it comes to sexual harassment.
