Jars of Joy help bring smiles to sick keiki

Joy Jars at Kapiolani Medical Center

It’s not easy for anyone to be hospitalized but keiki at Kapiolani Medical Center got a bit of joy on Wednesday.

Swimmer and Olympic gold medalist Kaitlyn Sandeno and local surfers Josh and Seth Moniz stopped by to deliver jars of toys to some of the kids being treated there.

It’s called Joy Jars. The gifts come from the Jessie Rees Foundation which aims to help sick children around the U.S.

“I mean they’re going through some crazy thing and they just have these smiles that light you up, there’s nothing cooler,” Sandeno said.

Every year about 15,000 Joy Jars are delivered to children in hospitals around the country.
