DOH confirms additional case of Hepatitis A linked to recalled frozen berries

Frozen Berry Recall

The state Department of Health has confirmed another adult case of Hepatitis A linked to frozen berries sold at Costco.

According to the DOH, there are three confirmed cases on Oahu and one on Kauai.

Costco pulled the Townsend Farms Organic Antioxidant Blend off shelves after officials discovered the bag contains pomegranate seeds imported from Turkey, which may be the cause of the infection.

The DOH is investigating a handful of additional cases on Oahu and other islands.

Costco is offering free vaccines in its pharmacies for those who may have consumed the tainted berries.

A company spokesperson says that Costco will reimburse the price of vaccines or administer shots for free to customers who purchased the product.
