Six local players taken on final day of MLB draft

This afternoon, rounds 11 through 40 wrapped up the 2013 Major League Baseball first-year player draft. For the first time since 2000, and only the third time since 1975, no University of Hawai’i players were selected in the draft.

Six local boys were taken on the final day, including:

32nd RD. #974  New York Yankees Sumner, Chaunsey Hawaii Pacific (HI) 3B R/R SR 5’11” 205lbs
35th RD. #1045  Toronto Blue Jays Arriaga, Akoni Baldwin HS (HI) RHP R/R HS 6’01” 170lbs
39th RD. #1170  Arizona Diamond Backs Karaviotis, Mark Maui HS (HI) SS R/R
