Sixteen year-old Keanan Block says it took 11 units of blood to save his life.
Friday, He got a chance to thank those who donated.
In honor of World Blood day, the Iolani student personally thanked donors at the blood bank of Hawaii.
Keanan needed the transfusion last year when he suddenly and mysteriously began bleeding internally.
“They really just did save my life so I just want to thank all the donors out there and encourage people to donate coz you never really know whose life you can save,” blood recipient, Keanan Block said.
World Blood day is a global campaign to remind donors to give.
The blood bank says, donations are typically low in the summer because of vacations and other activities.
