HPD officer injured during arrest

A Honolulu Police officer was injured during an arrest Wednesday morning.

According to HPD, the incident happened shortly after 3 a.m. in the Ala Moana area.

The suspect, a 25-year-old male, was already being arrested for disorderly conduct and a contempt warrant. He was then placed in the back seat of a marked police vehicle.

When the officer was trying to talk to the suspect through a partially lowered window, the suspect kick out the window.

The shattered glass then struck the officer’s face.

The officer was treated at a nearby medical facility and released.

The suspect was then arrested for criminal property damage.
