2 KFC locations closing on Oahu

Two Kentucky Fried Chicken locations in Honolulu are scheduled to close in less than a week.

Kazi Foods runs the KFC restaurants in Hawaii. The company says it will close its Kapiolani Boulevard location on June 26 and the Dillingham Boulevard location on June 30.

Both of the restaurants’ lease agreements were not renewed.

The Kapiolani Boulevard location, which is on the corner of Keeaumoku Street, was purchased by Walgreens and will be developed into a new Walgreens store.

Officials say the Dillingham Boulevard location lacked adequate access for drive-thru customers.

No jobs will be lost as a result of the closures. All full- and part-time employees were given the option to relocate to other Kazi restaurants.

“We’d like to give a warm mahalo to all of our customers who supported us throughout the years,” KFC Hawaii Area Manager Julie Jandoc said. “And we look forward to serving them at our other restaurants.”

Kazi Foods operates 45 KFC Hawaii and Burger King restaurants, employing more than 1,000 people statewide.

There are 21 KFC restaurants on Oahu, Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island.
