Local gas prices declined or were unchanged in surveyed areas of the state compared to last week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch.
The Hawaii state average for regular unleaded is $4.32 per gallon, three cents less than last week, four cents less than last month and three cents more than on this day last year.
Honolulu’s average price is $4.19 a gallon for regular unleaded, four cents less than last week, six cents less than last month and one cent more on this day last year.
In Hilo, the average gas price is $4.32 per gallon, which is the same price as last week, eight cents less than last month and a nickel more than this time a year ago.
Wailuku’s average is $4.63 a gallon, one cent less than last week, six cents more than last month and 10 cents less than the price last year.
“This year, nearly 41 million Americans plan to celebrate the nation’s birthday with a getaway, and AAA predicts that Hawaii will be the top air destination for Southern California travelers,” AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida said. “AAA Hawaii urges those who are making Fourth of July party plans with family and friends to also plan ahead and designate a sober driver. If you’re a party host, offering a small gift to designated drivers is a nice way to thank them for getting guests home safely.”
