The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the teenager who was killed in a fiery pickup truck crash on Farrington Highway near Makua Cave nearly two weeks ago.
The victim was identified as 16-year-old Zain Lalawai of Waianae.
The crash happened on June 14 when the truck lost control, struck some rocks, and burst into flames.
Honolulu police say the pickup truck was carrying 16 people.
The driver of the truck, 18-year-old Kamealohanakekaiau Wilbur-Delmia, turned himself in to police Saturday morning.
Police believe speed and alcohol may have been factors in the crash.
The cause of Lalawai’s death is pending further study.
