Religious freedom supporters gathered at the State Capitol on Saturday to protest what they say are threats to their religious liberty.
The event is part of the nationwide Fortnight for Freedom movement by U.S. bishops that calls for a two-week period of prayer and action.
The demonstrators are concerned about federal mandates on birth control and the supreme court ruling that struck down the Defense of Marriage Act.
“This is an awesome country. Here we can sit here, and we can organize and protest. That’s just a part of our country but unfortunately some of the awesomeness of our countries is encroaching on religions and traditions that have been there for so long,” Saint Damien Advocates founder John Roco said.
Fortnight for Freedom events started last weekend and continue through July 4.
