The man accused of a dump truck rampage through Waikiki appeared in court Tuesday morning.

Honolulu Police say 43-year-old Allen Pitts stole the dump truck Saturday night, then hit two parked police vehicles with the officers still inside.

Court documents say Pitts then drove the wrong way down Kalakaua Avenue and onto the beach, making a run for the water.

He was arrested an hour-and-a-half later.

Friends of Pitts told KHON2 that he has mental health issues.

“I am bolted through my body. I do not want to be, I don’t like it. I need medical attention. Do you see anyone else bolted here?” Pitts said in court.

Pitts is charged with several counts of property damage, operating a stolen vehicle, and reckless endangerment.

He remains behind bars on $75,000 bail.
