Popular bakery in Japan opens on Oahu

A taste of Japan makes its way to our islands.

By 8:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, 200 people were in line for “Brug” bakery’s grand opening at Shirokiya in Ala Moana.

The bakery took over the spot, where St. Germaine bakery used to be.

It brings German-style baked goods that’s very popular in Hokkaido, Japan.

“They have about six bakeries there, really really famous and they decided to open in Hawaii for their first location outside of Japan,” Public Relations/Marketing director for Shirokiya Mona Wood-Sword said.

Brug is known for its additive-free, low-calorie and all-natural breads.
