We’re now just four weeks away from kickoff to the 2013 Hawaii high school football schedule, and this season an interesting twist will hit the ILH.
For the first time, the Oahu private school league will hold a championship semi-final in both division I and division II. The breakdown, in simplest form, will have all teams eligible. However, for the number one seed, it will be a double-elimination tournament.
In the three-team division I, the two seed will play the number three seed on Saturday, October 19. The winner will then advance to play the regular season champion on October 25. If the lower seed defeats the regular season champion in that matchup, a pure championship game will be played on Saturday, November 2.
In division II, the one seed will play the four seed and the two seed will play the three on Saturday, October 19. If the four seed upsets the regular season champ, they’ll advance to face the winner of the two versus three matchup on Friday, October 25. That winner will get the number one seed in the championship game on Saturday, November 2.
If the one seed beats the four seed in the first round, they advance into the second round to play the winner of the two seed versus three seed game on October 25. If the one seed were to win that game, they would be ILH division II champions. If they were to lose, they would advance to a pure championship game rematch with the 2/3 winner on Saturday, November 2.
