Department of Veterans Affairs approves $2.1 M for homeless veterans

As part of the Department of Veterans Affairs plan to expand the Supportive Services for Veteran Families Program, more than $2.1 million is being given to Catholic Charities Hawaii and the United States Veterans Initiative.

The Supportive Services for Veteran Families Program supports VA’s efforts to prevent at-risk veterans from becoming homeless and rapidly re-house those who have recently fallen into homelessness.

The assistance is expected to benefit 566 homeless and at-risk veteran households across the state.

Catholic Charities Hawaii is getting $1,108,224.

United States Veterans Initiative will be receiving $1,017,000.
