Taiwan residents are breathing a sigh of relief as Typhoon Soulik passes over the island.
A group of Hawaii residents are in Taipei as part of a tour group.
Local blogger Melissa Chang is part of that group. She says the rain was coming in sideways and the wind was strong enough to shred a banner off a building.
“Almost like having a hurricane in Hawaii. There’s some debris and further down the street. There’s a large branch that’s down,” Chang said.
By morning, skies were still grey and the streets were wet.
The storm even forced Hawaiian Airlines to reschedule its Saturday return flight for a second time.
The flight is expected to leave Friday night.
