Brush fire rekindles near Manawainui Gulch

Maui Fire Department

The Kaupo brush fire flared up again on Maui destroying another 25 acres.

The fire broke out at about 3 p.m. Monday.

Firefighters had the fire contained by 7 p.m.

The Maui Fire Department will be monitoring it throughout the night.

The fire originally burned about 65 acres from Saturday through the time it was extinguished at 6:30 a.m Monday.
