No tsunami threat for Hawaii after strong earthquake near South Sandwich Islands region

The U.S. Geological Survey reported a 6.4-magnitude earthquake near South Sandwich Islands region.

The earthquake was reported at 3:03 a.m. (HST) Monday.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says based on all available data, a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no tsunami threat for Hawaii.
