Hawaii public libraries receive $700,000 from state

For the first time in years, the Hawaii State Public Library System (HSPLS) is getting money from the state.

The legislature has appropriated $700,000 for library e-books and other materials.

This is the first time since 2008 that the legislature has given the library funding for materials.

Before this, the library has had relied on special funds and federal grants.
