Shoppers get hands on with hurricane preparedness

Hurricane Preparedness at Pearlridge Center

The City Department of Emergency Management held the “Ready 2 React” emergency preparedness event.

People got to check out this mobile command center as well as some of the other emergency vehicles and equipment.

They also got to learn more about what to do if a hurricane, tsunami, or other natural disaster strikes.

“Everyone has to be prepared from when the disaster ends to when the assistance comes and that’s the gap period. And you have to be prepared for food, water, clothing, and taking care of yourselves and having a plan for at least 7 days,” Department of Emergency management John Cummings said.

They were also teaching folks how to give CPR to people and their pets.
