Lane closures, altered bus routes expected as King Street construction underway

The city began a major road project on King Street between River and Bethel Streets.

There will be multiple lane closures Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The project is expected to take 50 days to complete.

Due to the road work, bus routes within the construction area will all be moved to Hotel Street.

The bus stops affected are as follows:

  • South King and River (#592)
  • South King and Maunakea (#997)
  • South King and Bethel (#393)
  • South King and Alakea (#1405)
  • South King and Richards (#4400)

TheBus will service all bus stops along the detour route.

King Street Reconstruction between River Street and Bethel Street, Chinatown: Rehabilitation of sewer lines and select laterals, sewer manhole frame and cover replacement, excavation; Installation and backfill for new 6″, 8″ & 12″ water lines, fire hydrants, valves, manholes; Installation and backfill for new 6″ drain lines, inlets and manhole connections; Excavation and backfill for new gas lines; Demolish existing concrete and A.C. pavements to install new work and adjust manholes & valves boxes to grade.
