Likelike Highway reopened after police clear accidents near Wilson Tunnel

The Honolulu Police Department reports that as many as nine separate motor vehicle collisions occurred in the last hour. Six of these occurred within and just outside of Wilson Tunnel.

At 5:39 p.m. Monday, Honolulu Police reopened Likelike Highway in the Kailua-bound direction.

The Likelike Highway Kailua-bound had been closed again due to a three car accident inside the Wilson Tunnel.

The Likelike Highway was reopened from Nalanieha Street after multiple accidents occurred.

Officers have reported that combination of slick roads and fast driving may be contributing to the increased number of collisions.

With many City, State and other employees being released early due to Tropical Storm Flossie the Department of Emergency Management asks that our residents please drive safely and be aware of road hazardous road conditions.

No major injuries have been reported.

The highway was reopened shortly after 4:15 p.m.
