A Waianae man was arrested for allegedly shooting his neighbor’s cat with a pellet gun.

Honolulu police are investigating the first-degree animal cruelty case.

A 27-year-old man was arrested at his home Tuesday night for the crime.

Police say the cat was found dead and the Hawaiian Humane Society is doing a necropsy on the animal to determine how it died.

They will then turn that information over to police.

The man was released pending further investigation.
