A Maui man who was critically injured in a traffic crash has died from his injuries.
According to Maui police, the crash happened on June 20 on Mapu Place in Wailea.
Police say the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Mapu Place when it drifted off the roadway and crashed into a parked trailer on the eastbound shoulder.
Officials identified the driver as 36-year-old Sirius Pereira of Wailea.
Pereira was taken to the Maui Memorial Medical Center in critical condition.
Police say on July 4, Pereira succumbed to his injuries and died.
Police have determined that drugs and alcohol were contributing factors to the crash.
This is Maui County’s 10 traffic fatality for 2013, compared to 15 at the same time last year.
