BWS crews repair broken water main in Kalama Valley; Kealahou St. remains closed

Board of Water Supply crews  have repaired an 8-inch water main break at the intersection of Kealahou Street and Kahului Street in Kalama Valley.

Water service was restored to all affected customers at about 9:15 p.m. Thursday.

Honolulu police have closed the makai-bound lane of Kealahou Street between Kahului Street and Olowalu Place. Makai-bound traffic is diverted onto Nakalele and Kahului Streets for the duration of the repair work.

A contractor is scheduled to repave the area starting 8:30 a.m. Friday. The work is expected to take about four to six hours to complete.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution when traveling through the work area and to use alternate routes where possible.

Initially, about six customers are affected by this main break.

The break was initially reported at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
