Car hits fire hydrant sending water cascading into resident’s yard

Honolulu Police and fire responded to a broken hydrant fronting 980 Prospect Street around 11 a.m. Wednesday.

A viewer shot this video of the water from the broken hydrant shooting into the air.

Honolulu Police notified the Board of Water Supply about the broken hydrant.

Crews responded and fixed the hydrant, water service was not affected.

Police told BWS that a car hit the hydrant and drove off.

Fire officials say a home on Prospect Street received the brunt of the water, but say their was no damage to the home.

They say the garden suffered the most damage.
