Three men were rescued Sunday morning in waters off leeward Oahu after their boat overturned, forcing the trio to spent the night in the ocean.
The Coast Guard received a distress call at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday from the girlfriend of one of the boaters, after she reported them overdue from an ahi fishing trip.
The Coast Guard searched throughout the night, and at about 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning, two of the men were spotted about seven miles southwest of Kaena Point sitting on top of the overturned boat. The third man was found clinging to the side of it.
They were safely hoisted into a rescue helicopter and transported to Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point.
All three men were wearing life jackets and sustained minor injuries.
