Have you ever received a robocall letting you know you’ve been approved for a loan?

Experts warn don’t fall for it, it’s just the latest scheme to get your personal information.

Phone recording:

“Hello and congratulations you have recently applied for a payday loan and you have been pre-approved for our highest gold level.”

“Consumers in Hawaii that have received from a company called loanmedollars.com this solicitation tells you on the phone that congratulations your loan has been approved,” Hawaii Better Business Bureau President/CEO Gregory Dunn said.

The Hawaii BBB warn consumers that robocalls are illegal.

If there is no live person on the other end and the person does not have permission to contact you the call is illegal.

“The robocall tells you that no credit check will be required when you go to the website to look it up it says no credit check is required then when you look at the fine print it says oh, a third-party will do a credit check on you,” Dunn said.

Phone recording:

“to collect your funds go to our pre-approval site at loanmedollars.com.”

Dunn calls it deceptive advertising.

According to the Hawaii BBB website loanmedollars.com is not a BBB accredited business and has a C- rating.

“If you do get a robocall the first thing you do is hang up you want to consider blocking the number that it comes from if you see it on your cell phone or caller i.d.” Dunn said.

He also suggests reporting your number to the do not call list.

We tried to contact loanmedollars.com but when we went to the contact page on their website, it was blank.
