Man charged with arson a month after fire in Haleiwa

A 35-year-old man has been charged with fourth-degree arson after a fire in Haleiwa last month.

Honolulu police say Scott Mack was burning rubbish in his backyard when the high winds fanned the flames and grew out of control.

The fire burned a total of 10 acres.

If convicted, Mack could face up to a year in jail.
