It’s the final resting place for thousands of veterans, but the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl is running out of space.
Officials say the cemetery is on track to run out of space by Jan. 2016.
So, the cemetery is about to start its capital improvement project that will include building a new columbarium to hold 7,000 cremated remains.
There will also be a new visitor information center.
Officials will share their expansion ideas at a public meeting.
The meeting will take place on Saturday at Keehi Lagoon Memorial Park.
